چکیده

Background: Cognitive disorders are symptoms of degenerative neuronal diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This study evaluated the effects a mixture Gastrodiae elata (GE) and Glycyrrhizae uralensis (GU) (GGW) on scopolamine-treated cognitive function in vivo. Methods: To induce memory impairment disorder, C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally administered scopolamine. In experimental period, Y-maze, passive avoidance, water maze tests carried out to measure ameliorative effect GGW disorder. The expression amyloid-β (Aβ), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), acetylcholinesterase (AChE) hippocampal tissues measured. addition, assess brain tissue, stained using hematoxylin eosin (H&E). Results: treatment improved latencies maze, avoidance compared with scopolamine alone. administration downregulated Aβ AChE expression. BDNF was upregulated by administration. Conclusion: These results suggest that ameliorates impaired scopolamine-induced mouse model. could control pathway regulating Aβ, AChE, BDNF. be used agent for dysfunction.

Gastrodia Elata Bl Attenuates Methamphetamine-Induced Dopaminergic Toxicity Via Inhibiting Oxidative Burdens

It has been recognized that Gastrodia elata Bl (GE), an oriental herb medicine, ameliorates various neurological disorders, that GE modulates the monoaminergic and GABAergic systems, and that GE possess antioxidant activities. We examined whether GE affects methamphetamine (MA)-induced striatal dopaminergic toxicity in mice. Treatment with MA (7.5 mg/kg, i.p. × 4) resulted in significant decrea...

Prolonged oral administration of Gastrodia elata extract improves spatial learning and memory of scopolamine-treated rats

Gastrodia elata (GE) is traditionally used for treatment of various disorders including neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. To investigate the neuroprotective effect of GE, amyloid-β peptide (Aβ)-treated PC12 cells were cultured with GE aqueous extract. In vitro assay demonstrated that 50 µM of pre-aggregated Aβ was lethal to about a half portion of PC12 cells and that Aβ ag...

Antibacterial compounds from Glycyrrhiza uralensis.

From the roots of Glycyrrhiza uralensis, two new pterocarpenes, glycyrrhizol A (1) and glycyrrhizol B (2), along with four known isoflavonoids, 5-O-methylglycryol (3), isoglycyrol (4), 6,8-diisoprenyl-5,7,4'-trihydroxyisoflavone (5), and gancaonin G (6), were isolated using a bioassay-guided fractionation method. The structures of the new compounds (1and 2) were elucidated by spectroscopic data...

Aldose reductase inhibitory compounds from Glycyrrhiza uralensis.

We evaluated the inhibitory effects of components from the root of Glycyrrhiza uralensis (G. uralensis) on aldose reductase (AR) and sorbitol formation in rat lenses with high levels of glucose as part of our ongoing search of natural sources for therapeutic and preventive agents for diabetic complications. In order to identify the bioactive components of G. uralensis, 5 prenylated flavonoids (...

Antioxidative activity and cell protective effect of gastrodia elata blume

Gastrodin and p-hydroxybenzyl alcohol (4-HBA) are the main active constituents of Gastrodia elata of which has numerous physiological functons, and has been used as an anticonvulsant, analgesic and sedative agent for the therapeutics of epilepsy, paralysis, inflammation, aging, and ameliorated memory impairment. The oxidative stress is caused by free radicals that increase the chain reactions o...
